Now, There's a common misconception in the skin care world (one that I even used to have) that in order to fight acne, you should actually limit the moisture on the skin. After all doesn't extra moisture in the form of oil (sebum) cause acne in the first place?

The truth is quite the contrary. While sebum does play a role in causing blemishes, keeping the skin moisturized is extremely important when fighting acne because it will actually decrease the production of sebum in the long run. Moisturizing, however, must be done in the right way in order to see results. Using 100% pure and natural castor oil acne products can be key for moisturizing properly.

Make sure that you do not use a moisturizer that clogs pores and promotes the growth of bacteria. This will undoubtedly make your acne worse. Unfortunately, you can no longer trust the labels of larger companies when they claim their products are "non-comedogenic" or "safe for acne prone skin". You won't have to worry about clogging pores when using castor oil topically as long as all other ingredients found within the product are also beneficial to the skin.

You do have to be careful though.... The truth is, many larger skin care companies manufacture soaps and lotions with a ton of synthetic ingredients in order to cut costs and increase profits. The cosmetic industry has much lighter regulations then the food and drug industry.

According to the FDA website,

"Manufacturers are not required to register their cosmetic establishments, file data on ingredients, or report cosmetic-related injuries to the FDA".

So when it comes to cosmetics and skin care products, almost anything goes!

For this reason, I strongly recommend learning how to make soap from castor oil for acne prone skin in order to moisturize 100% naturally. Using handcrafted soaps, either made by yourself or made by small companies that are concerned, first and foremost, with the quality of their product and then with profit virtually guarantees your all natural skin care products will be free of harmful chemicals and therefore much more effective.
